Before modern tubes and disposable packaging became commonplace, tooth preparations were frequently sold in handsome reusable ceramic pots such as this one. Today, surviving examples are fascinating collectibles that combine advertising, pharmacy, dental, and social history. The crisp white ceramic provides a beautiful contrast to the detailed monochrome decoration, making it an especially appealing addition to an antique vanity, English country bathroom, apothecary collection, or cabinet of Victorian curiosities. Compact yet full of character, it is a lovely example of how utilitarian objects of the period were elevated through typography and decorative design. See less
