The dramatic open back is framed by beautifully curved wood elements incorporating contrasting figured wood panels and incised geometric decoration. At the center of the crest is the chair's most distinctive feature: a finely carved portrait bust of a figure wearing a cap, presented within a raised oval medallion.

Gracefully curved arms extend from the oval back toward the generously proportioned rounded upholstered seat, while shaped legs continue the chair's elegant silhouette. The warm brown finish and variations in the wood grain give the piece considerable depth and character.
