Ray, measures 5" round perfectly and displays a highly detailed and intricate pattern of traditional black pigment. The design features exceptionally fine forms with precision brushwork.

The underside bears Lydia H. Ray's distinctive signature, known by her family as "Lee." She customarily represented it with two feather motifs, followed by "ee" and then "Acoma, N.M." According to Lydia's family, the artist. continued to paint her pottery using a traditional yucca brush, preserving an important aspect of Acoma pottery practice.

Lydia H. Ray is identified as an Acoma Pueblo potter and is formally recognized and listed as an authentic Acoma artisan in Dwight P. Lanmon and Francis H. Harlow's definitive reference book, The Pottery of Acoma Pueblo. Ms. Ray's precise lifespan is not widely published in standard public biographical records, but her career and active lifespan are anchored in the mid-to-late 20th century.
