A handsome antique French armchair in the Louis XV tradition, featuring a shapely exposed-wood frame upholstered in rich oxblood or burgundy leather.
The gently curved back, generously padded seat, and upholstered armrests are individually outlined with aged brass nailheads. A serpentine seat rail flows into four slender cabriole legs, with restrained carved leaf and scroll decoration accenting the knees, arm supports, and feet.
The leather displays attractive tonal variation ranging from deep claret to brighter ruby red, giving the chair considerably more depth and character than uniformly colored new upholstery. Its warm walnut-toned frame retains a pleasantly aged finish that highlights the carved details.
