A striking handcrafted desk clock by renowned American master woodworker and author Michael Elkan. Sculpted from a solid piece of beautifully figured curly maple burl, the piece celebrates the wood’s natural knots, grain and organic live-edge form.
The clock features a round quartz movement with Roman numeral dial set directly into the burl. A contrasting wood base incorporates a clever concealed sliding compartment, originally designed to hold and dispense a roll of postage stamps.
Fully signed “Michael Elkan Studio” on the underside of the compartment cover.
An unusual piece of American studio craft that works equally well as functional desk art or a collectible example of contemporary woodworking.
