Overview
A commanding, museum-grade Mid-Century Balinese modernist figurative sculpture standing at an imposing 21 inches. Featuring the structural stamp of the historic "Keradjinan Klungkung Bali" cooperative on its base, this piece represents the pinnacle of specialized, mid-century ethnographic master-craft lines out of eastern Bali.
Artistry & Form
Known affectionately in collections as the "Lone Warrior," this sculpture illustrates the graceful, hyper-elongated vertical lines characteristic of the mid-century Balinese Modernist movement. Carved from a single, solid block of native Alstonia (Clung Clung) wood, the figure depicts a female warrior or noble figure in a striking, dynamic pose. A defining hallmark of this piece is her magnificent, hyper-extended ponytail rising straight past a traditional high hair knot, beautifully illustrating the carver's total command of vertical balance.
Condition & Presentation
This 21-inch milestone portfolio asset is in pristine, collector-grade condition. The native timber cells have been meticulously hand-maintained, exhibiting a deep, radiant mirror-satin luster. It passes the strictest curation filters with absolutely zero chips, structural cracks, splitting lines, or post-carving repairs. A highly substantial standalone centerpiece perfect for luxury interior curation, mantle focal points, or elite ethnographic collections.

I would say pristine, but there is a spot, for lack of a better word, on the right forward facing portion of the weapon she is holding. This could be a burr hole that the carver came close to removing, but stopped just shy of it. There are no other imperfections on this piece. less
