Handsome mid-19th century French Louis Philippe walnut writing table or desk, sourced in Provence, France. The rectangular plank top is framed by a broad border and retains a warm, richly aged surface with visible grain, old marks, and character developed through generations of use. The table is raised on four substantial turned legs and features a deep apron incorporating a front drawer with a turned wooden pull. A second long compartment is cleverly concealed within the apron and slides out from the side, providing additional storage while maintaining the table’s simple architectural profile. Constructed primarily of solid walnut, the table displays traditional joinery throughout, including dovetailed drawer construction. The restrained proportions and generous work surface make it well suited for use as a writing desk, library table, console, or small dining table. The table has been structurally restored and polished with wax, preserving the depth and character of the original wood and patina.
