Measuring approximately 6 feet/72 inches wide and 27 inches high, this is an unusually large and visually striking piece of architectural salvage. The composition features mottled turquoise blue, pale green, cream, amber, cobalt and deep blue glass arranged around an ornate central scroll/foliate motif. There are two beautiful green cabochon-like jewels on either side of the fleur-de-lis.

The combination of jewel-toned glass, marbled opalescent sections and graceful curved leadwork gives the window wonderful presence even without direct light. Illuminated by natural light, the colors become considerably more vibrant.

The window remains housed in its substantial old wooden architectural frame and retains aged surface character consistent with decades of use.

Based upon its materials, construction and design, I believe the window dates to approximately the late 19th/early 20th century, likely circa 1890–1925, with strong Art Nouveau / transitional architectural influence. Exact age and origin have not been independently authenticated.

Condition
Antique architectural condition with age-related wear throughout.

The original/older wood frame shows surface wear, checking, splitting, losses, old holes, joint movement and other evidence of age and previous architectural installation. However, this piece is suitable for and has been successfully hanging for the last 40+ years.

The leaded glass assembly shows age and oxidation consistent with an antique window. There are areas of damage, including 2 very small cracked/missing glass pieces along the lower border (shown in the photographs). Reinforcement/support bars are present on the reverse.

This piece has not been professionally restored and is being offered in its current antique architectural condition.

At six feet across, this window could be extraordinary:
