The chairs are not an identical matched pair, but rather “sisters”—clearly related in spirit, period, color, and musical theme, while each has its own distinctive carved back. One features a broad, curving instrument-form splat surrounded by delicate openwork, while the other has a tall spindle back crowned with scrolling carved ornament. Both have gracefully shaped wooden seats, cabriole-style legs, and turned stretchers.
