A beautifully decorative vintage Italian Florentine picture frame, richly finished in antiqued gold and warm ivory with delicate turquoise accents.
The broad wooden frame is covered with repeating Florentine-style foliate and palmette motifs, with alternating gilt ornament against a softly aged ivory ground. Tiny turquoise-blue details punctuate the pattern, while an additional gilt inner border and beaded edge create the layered, jewel-like appearance characteristic of traditional Florentine decorative work.
The frame accommodates a standard 8" × 10" photograph or artwork, making this a particularly desirable larger example. The reverse retains its warm peach moiré-style fabric backing and matching hinged easel stand, allowing it to be displayed vertically on a tabletop, dresser, console, bookshelf or desk.
The combination of faded gilding, ivory, turquoise and salmon-peach backing gives it the wonderfully collected character associated with vintage Italian interiors. It would be equally at home in a traditional room or mixed into a more eclectic space alongside pieces by Fornasetti, Buccellati, Maison Baguès or other richly ornamented Italian and European decorative objects.
