Striking pair of mid-century California Pottery elongated boat dishes, mold marked "W-55 CALIF USA" on the unglazed foot.
Each vessel features an expressive atomic elliptical form finished in a glossy, high-saturation tomato-red glaze with hand-applied metallic gold trim accenting the curved upper rim. Their sculptural profile and bold pop of color make them exceptionally versatile as coffee table styling accents, entry console key catchalls, vanity trays, or credenza centerpiece bowls.
An eye-catching set that complements mid-century modern, postmodern, Memphis, and Hollywood Regency interiors.
Both pieces are structurally sound and in very good vintage condition. The ceramic bodies are completely free of chips, cracks, or repairs. Please expect light vintage wear and gentle patina to the gold gilt along the rims, as shown in the detailed photographs.
