An exceptional and unusually large vintage china cabinet by Mastercraft Furniture Co. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, retaining its original maker’s label.
At an impressive seven feet wide and seven feet tall, this monumental cabinet has tremendous architectural presence. The case features richly figured burl wood accented throughout with decorative brass detailing.
The upper cabinet is distinguished by three dramatically shaped doors with intricate brass latticework, an elaborate sculptural crest, glass shelving, and a light interior designed to beautifully showcase displayed objects. Below, the graceful bombe-form case provides substantial storage with six drawers detailed with brass trim and elegant period hardware.
The combination of highly figured burl, sweeping curves, elaborate brass ornamentation, and extraordinary scale gives this piece a distinctly luxurious presence.
