An exceptionally rare piece of early American tobacco history. This authentic octagonal wood regulator wall clock was produced around 1900 as a store display advertising the iconic Lucky Strike brand of smoking plug tobacco.
Key Historical Features:
The Rear Paper Label: The original, historic factory paper notice is still attached to the reverse wood panel. It explicitly outlines the promotional terms provided to 1900s store merchants: "This Handsome Clock is intended to advertise our celebrated LUCKY STRIKE brand of Smoking Plug Tobacco, and is to accompany the first purchase of two boxes of our Tobacco..."
The Dial & Casing: Features a plain, blank white clock face with black Roman numerals. Beautiful solid wood octagonal drop-trunk design with lower glass display window.
Mechanical / Condition Details:
Please Note: The thin metal suspension wire/strip holding the pendulum is currently broken and will need to be replaced for the clock to run.
The pendulum bob and internal mechanical gear movement are complete and intact inside the casing.
The wood case is in beautiful antique cosmetic condition with an authentic aged patina. The rare paper label on the reverse is fully legible and mostly intact.
