Offered is a Crate & Barrel brand Marimekko-designed "Räsymatto" pattern kitchen canister released in 2011.
The Räsymatto (rag rug) pattern, inspired by allotment gardening, is linked to topical themes like sustainable living and the joy of working with your hands. Allotments, with their flower and vegetable beds, represent urban nature at its best, and a rag rug on the floor of an allotment cottage tells a colourful story of its own.
Marimekko's Siirtolapuutarha collection has a pleasant feel of nostalgia. The clean, streamlined Oiva ceramic tableware was designed by Sami Ruotsalainen, and the Räsymatto patterns were drawn by Maija Louekari. They tell stories about country life in an urban environment.
It measures 5.75" in diameter, 8.5" tall, and is 7.75" tall without the lid on.
