The slender standard rises from a heavily decorated base with scrolling openwork and molded foliate detailing. Above, an ornate pierced bridge arm curves outward beneath a decorative floral finial, creating the graceful silhouette characteristic of bridge lamps produced during the early decades of the 20th century.

A central adjustment knob allows the upper portion of the lamp to be repositioned in height, making the piece particularly well suited for use beside a reading chair, library seating area or writing desk.

The lamp retains an attractive aged brass/gilt-toned surface with substantial natural patina, finish variation and oxidation that contribute to its antique character.

The frosted ruffled glass shade is a later replacement and is not original to the lamp. One small metal shade-retaining prong is missing; please see photographs. The lamp otherwise presents beautifully as a decorative early lighting form. See less
