A superb antique Venetian lantern, circa 1920, featuring a richly textured hand-blown glass body in a luminous citrine hue, enclosed within its original hand-forged iron framework.
The generously proportioned glass is beautifully modeled with pronounced lobes and an intentionally irregular, rippled surface that catches and refracts the light. Its warm golden-citrine coloration is particularly appealing, shifting in intensity as the lantern is viewed from different angles.
A restrained geometric iron cage follows the sculptural contours of the glass, providing a striking contrast between the delicacy of the blown glass and the dark patinated metalwork. The resulting silhouette is distinctly Venetian, decorative and romantic, yet remarkably modern in its simplicity.
A beautiful example of early 20th-century Venetian glassmaking, with exceptional character whether illuminated or displayed unlit.
This fixture is in nice antique condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The photos accurately depict the condition.
