This Pablo Picasso very rare vintage 1972 Mid Century Modernist custom framed " Poteries-Ceramiques " French exhibition silkscreen print is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Modernist silkscreen print is published by The Galerie Triel in Nice, printed in France in 1972 in an unnumbered limited edition on the occasion of the " Poteries-Ceramiques " exhibition in December 1972 - January 1973.
The bold fuchsia and magenta pink design features Picasso's signature Abstract faces and organic motifs, paired with hand-rendered style lettering. Unlike the issued Galerie Triel exhibition posters, this version was printed without the gallery information, likely produced in advance of the exhibition making it even more desirable. Signed in the print plate, it stands as an unusual highly collectible variant that merges Picasso's graphic brilliance with the enduring legacy of his ceramic explorations.
Pablo Picasso ( 1881 - 1973 ) was a Spanish born painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, poet and playwright who spent most of his life in France. He is regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of The Twentieth Century. Exceptionally prolific throughout the course of his long life, Picasso achieved universal renown and immense fortune for his revolutionary artistic accomplishments, and became one of the most well known figures in 20th Century Art.
In 1946 Picasso visited the small coastal town Vallauris France, known for its pottery, where he became enamored with the ceramics being produced by Atelier Madoura, owned by Suzanne and Georges Raime. Invited by The Raimes to produce his own ceramics, this collaboration ushered in one of the most prolific periods of his career spanning more than 20 years. Here he created a breathtaking collection of original ceramic works, becoming one of the most significant parts of his oeuvre, establishing his importance in the development of 20th Century Art Pottery.
