This exceptional piece has documented diplomatic lineage. It was originally purchased in Rangoon, Burma, by a senior US Embassy official during the late colonial era and has been meticulously kept within the same family ever since.

Crafted during Lower Burma's celebrated "Silver Age," this stunning piece showcases the pinnacle of traditional Burmese metalworking. The center features a three-dimensional, high-relief repoussé scene depicting a crowned royal or divine deity seated majestically upon a formal courtly dais. The central figure is flanked on either side by two kneeling attendants or worshippers, posed in a traditional attitude of reverence.

The figures are framed by a breathtaking backdrop of hand-pierced, openwork scrollwork featuring dense floral and foliate motifs. This dramatic piercing allows the dark backing fabric of a sash or belt to show through, creating an incredible sense of depth and contrast. The scalloped perimeter is bordered by an elegant chased framing accent.

The reverse of the buckle beautifully illustrates the artist's process, displaying the hand-hammered concave recesses characteristic of authentic master-level repoussé work. It features its original, robust hardware integration: a long vertical silver retaining bar securely hand-soldered along one side, balanced by two heavy horizontal rectangular loops on the opposing side, designed to slide seamlessly onto a traditional formal sash or heavy textile belt.
