These antique Empire period chairs from Sweden, crafted in richly figured birch about the main parts of the chair, each feature an elegantly-curved crest rail and upper backrest, terminating in subtle downward scrolls at either side, with geometrical central back splat consisting of triangular shapes with a central roundel. The gracefully curved open arms sweep forward in a continuous line and terminate above squared front supports capped with small turned finials. The chairs are raised on tapering squared front legs and saber-shaped legs at rear. The well-proportioned frames demonstrate the emphasis on classical symmetry and comfort that distinguished high-quality Swedish seating of the period. The chairs retain a mellow, aged surface with minor wear and imperfections consistent with age and use, contributing to their authentic antique character. Reupholstery is recommended and would allow these chairs to be customized to complement your personal design aesthetic. Arm height from floor is approximately 27 inches.
