Authentic wood and cast-iron box seat salvaged from the Polo Grounds in Upper Manhattan, New York City. This green-painted figural seat features an ornate interlocking cast-iron logo panel and a white-stenciled "1" on the seatback, marking its original row position. Traces of the original orange undercoat are visible through the green topcoat and paint chipping — a hallmark of authentic Polo Grounds seating, which was repainted later in its life.
The Polo Grounds was the name given to three different stadiums in Upper Manhattan, New York City, used by many professional teams in both baseball and American football from 1880 until 1963. Baseball teams that used the stadiums include the New York Metropolitans from 1880 until 1885, the New York Giants from 1883 until 1957, the New York Yankees from 1913 until 1922, and the New York Mets in 1962 and 1963.
This particular seat comes mounted on a wood display base and includes a plaque confirming its provenance as a genuine box seat from the Polo Grounds, home to the Giants (1911–1957), Yankees (1913–1922), and Mets (1962–1963). A rare piece of New York City sports history and a striking display item for any collector, sports bar, or man cave.
Condition: Original vintage paint and hardware, shows expected age and wear consistent with an unrestored stadium relic. Display base is a later addition for freestanding use.
