This is one of a small grouping … Read more This is a LARGE RARE hand-colored antique botanical chromolithograph that dates to c1880. This is one of a small grouping that we recently purchased in Paris. It is done by Henry (Henri) Lambert. Lambert created large decorative botanicals that were used as reference for designers, artists and engravers. His work was executed with botanic accuracy and beauty. Lambert also worked in the Sevres porcelain industry where his work on porcelain reflected his influence of flowering botanicals on ceramics. Today his work is auctioned at art galleries throughout the world. This botanical features several flowering plants: the iris,the cherry blossom and the double yellow anthemise. The chromolithograph is done in a soft palette of yellow, green and white tones with a cream tone background. There is a very beautiful quality to the work. The vibrancy of the detailing and its accuracy are quite rare to find. We were very fortunate to purchase a small grouping of Lambert's botanicals from a Parisian collector. See these in our shop; together they create unique wall decor. The botanical is in excellent antique condition. It is numbered and signed in stone by the artist. 12.75 x 18 inches.
