A handsome antique Delaware Valley banister-back side chair dating to circa 1760s, attributed to the Delaware Valley of Pennsylvania or New Jersey. Found in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, this early American chair has the appealing proportions and understated character associated with 18th-century regional furniture.
The chair retains an older refinish that highlights its age and construction, along with honest wear marks accumulated through years of use. The feet have been carefully tipped out to return the chair to its original height while preserving its early form and character.

A wonderful example of early American vernacular seating, equally suited to a collection of period furniture or as a distinctive accent in a more casually curated interior.
