Commanding in scale and exceptionally substantial in construction, this monumental vintage Mediterranean Revival dresser has been reimagined as a dramatic designer statement piece. Measuring an impressive 69 inches wide, the piece offers extraordinary storage and enough architectural presence to function beautifully as a bedroom dresser, dining-room sideboard, buffet cabinet or living-room credenza.
Believed to date from the late 1960s to 1970s, the dresser is constructed from remarkably heavy solid pine, including full one-inch-thick drawer fronts, broad solid-wood side panels and a substantial plinth-style skirt. Its distinctive façade features six exterior drawers, two sculpted center cabinet doors and two additional concealed drawers hidden behind the doors—for a total of eight functional drawers.
The four upper corner drawers create an unusual symmetrical arrangement around the central cabinet. The two uppermost drawers feature beautifully curved outer corners that follow the surrounding architectural molding. Below, two exceptionally wide lower drawers—each approximately 31 inches wide by 7.5 inches high—provide generous storage. Opening the two sculpted center doors reveals two additional full-width drawers stacked vertically, each designed with a broad carved finger pull rather than applied hardware.
The refinished case, broad top and completely flat side panels are presented in a rich satin Onyx Black finish. Rather than concealing the character of the solid wood beneath an opaque factory-style coating, the black finish has been carefully applied to allow subtle grain lines, knots and tonal movement to remain visible under directional light. The effect is sophisticated and dimensional: decisively black from across the room, with the beauty of the original wood quietly revealed upon closer inspection.
The drawer fronts, sculpted cabinet doors, decorative moldings and substantial wraparound skirt retain an exposed-wood finish in a deep Coffee Mahogany tone. Long flowing grain lines, broad cathedral patterns, natural knots and warm cognac undertones give each section individual character. The finish was intentionally designed to celebrate the depth and movement of the solid pine rather than imitate a uniform factory surface.
Original oversized drawer pulls provide a magnificent finishing detail. Each approximately 4.5-inch-wide pull features an elaborate pierced scrolling backplate with a substantial hinged bail handle. The hardware has been restored in an aged golden-bronze finish, with darker recessed areas and softly highlighted raised details. Each upper exterior drawer carries one centered pull, while each of the two long bottom drawers features two matching pulls and a centered decorative faux-keyhole escutcheon. The original white center-door knobs have been replaced with substantial aged-bronze knobs that coordinate with the long pierced door flourishes and remaining hardware.
Restrained hand-applied gilding along selected raised edges of the black architectural framework introduces a final note of Old World refinement. The gilding is intentionally soft and variegated rather than bright or uniformly metallic, allowing the black framework, rich exposed wood and sculptural hardware to remain in balance.
Exceptionally heavy and built on a scale rarely encountered in contemporary furniture, this is a true statement piece with remarkable versatility. In a bedroom, it provides expansive clothing storage; in a dining room, it becomes a commanding buffet or sideboard; and in a living room or entry, it offers the architectural presence and concealed storage of a substantial designer credenza.

This substantial solid-wood dresser has been carefully cleaned, prepared and refinished while intentionally preserving the natural depth, movement and personality of the original wood. Our refinishing process is not intended to create a completely uniform, factory-new surface. The exposed Coffee Mahogany drawer fronts, sculpted cabinet doors, decorative moldings and substantial skirt retain visible grain, natural knots, tonal variation and minor age-related imperfections. These characteristics have been deliberately incorporated into the finished design, allowing the history and solid-wood construction of the piece to remain evident. The satin Onyx Black finish has also been applied to preserve subtle evidence of the wood beneath it. Under directional light, quiet grain lines, knots and tonal movement remain visible through the black, creating depth rather than a flat or plastic-looking painted surface. The aged golden-bronze hardware displays softly variegated coloration, darker recessed areas and highlighted raised details consistent with the intended Old World finish. The restrained gilding along selected architectural edges is hand-applied and intentionally varied; minor differences in tone and coverage are part of its handcrafted character. As a vintage piece, it retains minor surface variations, small marks, softened edges and other signs of age and previous use. These details do not detract from its presentation and have been preserved where they contribute to the dresser’s character, depth and individuality.
