This is a vintage novelty "Ish" Wall Clock, originally designed in the late 1970s by designer Bill Miller for his boutique company, Bill Miller Etc. on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. The clock face replaces standard hour numerals with colloquial text indicators like "twelveish," "oneish," "twoish," and so forth. It is a humorous, laid-back timepiece meant for people who do not want to be stressed by exact minutes. While classic versions of this novelty clock concept—often referred to as "The Lazyman's One-Hand Wall Clock"—historically featured only a single hour hand to match the casual vibe, Bill Miller's mid-century modern shadowbox design includes both hands inside a deep, natural oak wood frame.
It's a charming comment on how clocks run our lives. I used this wall clock for about 5 years and these last few months the clock is not keeping time.
In good vintage condition but the battery mechanism needs an upgrade to a double AA battery. The part is about $15 and any clock repair shop can do this relatively fast.
