A child's plate made by Brownhills Pottery Co in Staffordshire, England circa 1884. This is a polychrome transfer ware piece boldly depicting finches and the alphabet. These plates informed, entertained and amused children in the UK during the Victorian era. These were given as gifts on special occasions.
The plates are part of "Birds of the World" series which makes them fun to collect. This plate is pattern #154.
