The strikingly elaborate carvings on this Indian antique wooden chair include magnificent dragon's head armrests, rosettes, and foliate motifs. The figure carefully carved in the center of the backrest is the revered Hindu deity Krishna, who is depicted playing the bansuri (flute), with one leg bent over the other in his traditional posture. Krishna is the eighth incarnation (or avatar) of the god Vishnu and is associated with divine love, protection, and compassion. The chair also features a rich red velvet cushion.
