The clock is surmounted by a substantial patinated spelter group depicting a young couple embracing, walking side by side beneath a drape lifted by their arms.

The particularly refined treatment of the faces, drapery, and poses lends considerable movement and elegance to the composition.

The group rests on an imposing, architecturally designed base of veined griotte marble, embellished with gilt-bronze ornaments at the ends.

The circular enamel dial, with Arabic numerals, is set on the front, surrounded by a gilt-bronze mount.

The clock is accompanied by two large candelabra, richly decorated with scrolls, foliage, volutes, and rocaille motifs.

Their multi-light design rests on red marble bases matching the clock and adorned with gilt bronze mounts.

The ensemble forms a particularly decorative and monumental mantelpiece, characteristic of the historicist and neo-rococo style of the second half of the 19th century.
