Grand Tour Large Bronze Situla From Pompeii Model in Naples Museum of Archaeology
Very finely cast bronze. Thick walls and a very substantial weight. (32.5 Pounds) The double handles move on posts to a vertical position or drop to form a rim around the vessel. Smooth and easy movement; strong post. Size is 14.75" and 12.5" diameter. Very good condition. Dark olive bronze patina. Likely a bronze from the foundry Chiurazzi, circa 1870s.
