Vintage mid-century Christmas Putz church, circa 1940s–1950s, handcrafted of wood and fiberboard with a shimmering mica “snow” finish, original-style bottle-brush evergreens and a working wind-up music box that plays “Silent Night.”
The substantial miniature church features a steeply pitched roof, projecting front vestibule, pointed red Gothic-style door, rows of arched windows and a tall removable steeple with its small hanging metal bell intact. The front door opens, and the musical mechanism is housed within the building.
Dark green bottle-brush foliage surrounds the entrance and sides, retaining remnants of its snowy finish and giving the piece the wonderfully atmospheric character associated with early Christmas Putz villages. The rear opening may also make it possible to introduce a small strand of modern fairy lights for display, although no lighting system is included and we cannot confirm that the church was originally illuminated.
A particularly appealing larger-scale example for an antique Christmas village, mantel, tabletop arrangement or display beneath a tree.

General edge and surface wear throughout consistent with age and use. Removable steeple and hanging bell remain present. Front door opens. Wind-up music-box mechanism is working and currently plays “Silent Night.” No electrical lighting components are included.
