Charming antique German Christmas Santa figure in the Scandinavian Tomte or Nisse tradition, dating to circa 1930s–1940s. The diminutive handmade figure features a hand-painted composition face, red felt hood and cloak, natural-fiber white beard, and blue trousers.
Santa sits on a rustic twig-style wooden bench set on a snowy wood base, with a small sprig of greenery tucked behind his shoulder. The original faux-snow decoration and gently aged materials give the piece wonderful early Christmas folk-art character.
A wire hanger remains on the reverse, allowing the figure to be displayed either as a tabletop decoration or hung on a Christmas tree.
