Charming vintage German Christmas Putz figure, circa 1940s–1950s, featuring Santa Claus seated in a snow-covered sleigh with a miniature bottle-brush evergreen tree. This handcrafted mixed-media decoration combines a hand-painted composition or papier-mâché Santa with red felt coat and cap, fiber beard, blue trousers and black boots, set within a pressed wood/fiberboard cream-white sleigh with scrolling runners, pierced details and a mica-style snowy finish.
Santa is removable from the sleigh and retains an original circular “Made in Germany” paper label beneath one boot—a particularly appealing detail for collectors of antique and vintage German Christmas decorations.
A wonderfully characterful Old World Christmas piece for a holiday mantel, Putz village, feather tree display, tabletop vignette or collection of vintage Santa figures.

The sleigh retains its original textured snowy finish, with gentle discoloration, rubbing, scattered staining, and small areas of loss consistent with age. Santa’s felt clothing shows expected vintage wear and light lint, while the painted composition face has minor surface wear, including a small loss to the tip of Santa’s nose. The boots display some age-related cracking and small losses. The bottle-brush tree retains much of its snowy decoration, with light expected wear and shedding.
