Exceptional mid-century modern writing desk designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Widdicomb, Model 1672. Crafted in walnut and birch, the desk features two three-drawer pedestals with distinctive rounded drawer pulls, softly curved edges, and a spacious floating kneehole. A glass top protects the original wood surface. Sits on recessed wheels.
The underside of the center drawer is stenciled “1672” and “3/50,” documenting the model number and March 1950 production date. The top drawer also retains the original “Widdicomb, Designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings” label. An exceptionally well-documented example of Robsjohn-Gibbings' influential early 1950s work for Widdicomb.
