Striking pair of vintage Renaissance Revival Savonarola chairs featuring sculptural folding X-form frames, beautifully carved lion-head arm terminals, and removable backrests with elaborate foliate and scrollwork carving.
The warm wood finish and aged patina accentuate the carving and give the chairs wonderful Old World character. Their distinctive architectural form makes them equally compelling as functional accent seating or statement pieces in a library, entryway, living room, or study.
The removable carved backrests allow the chairs to fold in the traditional Savonarola manner. No maker’s marks or labels were found.
