Antique Royal Doulton Robert Allen Dinner Plates Mint Green Gold Gilt 10” Set of 12
Made in England c1916/1925.
Each Approx. 5/8" High x 10" Diameter x 10" Deep.
Spectacular, investment-grade heirloom set of twelve (12) antique Royal Doulton ;dinner plates.
This service for 12 features a breathtaking neoclassical border design.
It consists of rich mint-green band segments separated by ornate, hand-painted swags, scrolling flourishes, and thick, heavily encrusted raised gold gilding.
The back of the plates bears the hand-inked studio pattern mark RA 6768. This indicates the set was custom-decorated by the prestigious Robert Allen Design Studio. This division of Royal Doulton was reserved strictly for their finest master artisans.
Each piece is also individually marked with the secondary gilder code 5054, guaranteeing that these are completely hand-decorated works of art rather than mass-produced transferware.
These plates tell a historic factory story through two separate sets of authentic marks:
1. Impressed Marks: Faintly incised into the clay base are the numbers 4-16. This proves the raw porcelain blanks were molded in the English potteries during World War I in April 1916.
;2. Back stamps: The face of the green printed "Lion over Crown" Doulton crest features the specialized year mark 2. This shows that this high-end custom pattern was final-fired and released in 1925.
Excellent pristine used antique condition. There are absolutely no chips, hairline cracks, fleabites, structural repairs, or surface crazing. The central white wells are incredibly clean. The heavy raised gold gilt borders show virtually zero wear or thinning. They ring beautifully clear when tapped. There is very minimal light rubbing to the gold details on some plates, consistent with gentle holiday display over the last century.
