This is an original antique, not a modern reproduction, featuring hand-built stave construction, a bentwood carrying handle with wrapped grip, hand-painted gilt auspicious symbols, and its original fitted lid.

These baskets were traditionally used for carrying wedding gifts, food offerings, tea, or textiles and today make an outstanding display piece for collectors of Asian antiques or primitive décor.
