Distinguished by its dramatic ebonized finish, refined gilt decoration, and unusually shallow proportions, this cabinet exemplifies the sophisticated historicist and Aesthetic Movement–influenced furniture produced and retailed by leading London cabinetmakers and dealers during the late 19th century.

The long, elegant case features a central clear-glass door enclosing a display compartment, flanked by open shelving and framed by finely executed gilt female caryatid figures.
