A footed ceramic bowl designed by Fridegart Glatzle for Karlsruher Majolika in West Germany. Its low oval body and softly undulating rim are finished with a dark brown-black satin exterior and a layered interior glaze in slate blue, grey and mineral white.
The raised foot gives the bowl a distinctly sculptural profile, while the shifting glaze makes each viewing angle slightly different. Measuring 30 cm wide, it can be used for fruit or displayed empty on a dining table, coffee table or sideboard, where the interior remains visible.
Marked on the base with the Karlsruher Majolika factory mark and model number 5842.
Very good vintage condition with minor signs of age and use. No cracks or repairs. This piece has an attribution mark,
