Exceptional 13-piece sarreguemines majolica oyster and seafood service, made in france in a rich, luminous green glaze. The set comprises twelve individual oyster plates and one large central serving platter, identified by model no. 9689.
each plate is sculpted in high relief with six beautifully molded oyster-shell compartments arranged around a raised central well. Finely articulated shell ribs, botanical and seaweed motifs create a particularly rich three-dimensional effect, enhanced by the deep, glossy green glaze.
the large central platter repeats the shell and botanical vocabulary on a grander scale and completes the presentation of the individual plates. Together, the thirteen pieces form an exceptionally decorative and complete french seafood service.
designed for serving oysters, shellfish and other seafood, this remarkable service perfectly evokes the elegant french coastal lifestyle. Its sculptural form and deep green glaze make it equally suited to an elegant seaside table, a sophisticated coastal dining room, or a decorative coastal-inspired tablescape. A distinctive example of french majolica with strong coastal lifestyle appeal for today's interiors.
