Regency Ochre Astral Glaze Display Cabinet. Made from pine, this beautiful cabinet features an intricately carved design around frame and pelmet, retaining the original brass detailing and key, with two astral glazed doors revealing 4 adjustable shelves, the cabinet stands on a removable base as does the top. C1820
The word "astragal" refers to a moulding profile resembling a semi-circular bead. Cabinetmakers used wooden glazing bars to divide large door spaces into smaller, manageable panes because large sheets of flawless flat glass were difficult and expensive to manufacture.
This cabinet has been sympathetically restored to bring life back into a beautiful piece of antique furniture. Would make a lovely addition to nay period home.
