Crafted of wood, each chair features a dramatic 53.5-inch arched back richly embellished with hand-painted polychrome decoration, carved geometric designs, openwork lattice panels, and beautiful gilt detailing.

The tall backs are especially wonderful, with intricate Moorish-inspired geometric patterns radiating from the center and surrounded by layers of painted floral and architectural ornament. Carved latticework along the arms and lower panels adds even more dimension, while turned and gold-accented feet complete the design.

The artistry continues around the reverse, where the tall arched backs are hand-painted in a rich red ground with elaborate floral and geometric decoration, making the chairs equally beautiful viewed from behind. They would be fabulous floating in a room where the decoration can be appreciated from every angle.

The pair retains removable burnt-orange velvet cushions, a beautiful complement to the warm reds, greens, golds and earthy tones of the painted wood. Grand in scale yet wonderfully intricate up close, these chairs are as much decorative works of art as they are functional seating.
