A substantial French dark cerused oak table or desk, C. 1940, featuring a bold, architectural form and richly textured finish. The thick rectangular top is supported by sturdy square legs joined by horizontal stretchers and set upon a substantial stepped plinth base. The dark cerused finish emphasizes the natural grain of the oak while lending the piece a striking sculptural presence.
Designed with a generous surface and strong geometric proportions, the piece can function equally well as a dining table, library table, or large writing desk. No leaves are provided. Fully extended, the table measures 97.75 inches in width.
