Here is a beautiful pair of vintage Spanish pottery candlesticks by Tito Úbeda, likely dating to the 1970s. Handcrafted in Úbeda, Spain, each features a rich deep green glaze over warm terracotta clay with wonderfully sculptural pierced cut-out detailing and a dramatic ruffled, scalloped drip tray.
What I especially love is the intricate openwork design, with elongated cutouts edged in a distinctive sawtooth pattern. The warm terracotta clay showing through the openings creates a gorgeous contrast against the glossy green glaze, while the deeply ruffled edges add another layer of texture and movement. The flared taper holders and raised pedestal bases complete the wonderfully sculptural form.
Designed to hold standard taper candles, they are equally beautiful displayed on their own. At approximately 6 inches tall, they are a great size for a dining table, mantel, console or styled shelf.
Both pieces are maker-marked Tito Úbeda. Made in Spain.
