A Very Fine Antique William & Mary Side Chair with Spanish Feet, Boston, Circa 1730
A superb early-form side chair with a boldly turned front stretcher featuring fine ball-and-ring turning, and squared, turned front legs ending in spoon-carved Spanish feet.
The chair retains its older, heavily built-up upholstery over what was likely an original leather seat and back — thick, blackened leather held with brass stud nails. The upholstery has not been removed.
Dimensions: 18½"W x 15"D x 43½"H | Seat height: 18"
Condition: Older refinished surface with heavy over-upholstery. Loss to the left front foot. Scattered old patches from earlier repairs, and an old repair to a break in one front leg. Age- and use-appropriate wear throughout.
