It was likely handcrafted in Myanmar (Burma) in the mid-20th century (possibly earlier) and features intricate reddish-brown, turquoise, and black carvings/engravings depicting stylized animals, monks, pagodas, and floral motifs, among other things. It was intended for storing betel or jewelry. The interior is lacquered reddish-brown.
