It Measures Approx … Read more This Really is a Exceptionally Nice & Quite Unusual Antique American Document Box. Circa Mid 19th Century. It Measures Approx 7 3/4 inches Tall x 18 inches Long x 10 1/2 inches Wide.It is Completely Hand Made out of Wood Covered in Black Leather - Embellished with Brass Upholstery Tack Studs. NOTE Also that the Top has a Applied Hand Engraved Brass Plaque that Reads "First Congregational Parish Records - Milton" ( Milton Massachusetts - Suburb of Boston ). The Front is Mounted with its Original Brass Spring Hinged Locking Clasp Assembly along with the Original Internal Locking Mechanism that is Still Functional and Comes With its Original Key. To Lock the Box First Press Lightly on the Hinged Brass Hasp with One Hand so that it is Firmly in Place Then Turn the Key One Full Revolution to the Left with the Other Hand - You Will Know when it is Locked. To Unlock the Box Just Turn the Key One Full Revolution to the Right and it will Be Unlocked. The Interior is also Lined with its Original Faux Marble Printed Paper. It is in Untouched Just Exactly as it has Survived Over the Years Original Condition. It is Aged and Weathered Giving it that Wonderful Authentic Old Look that Cannot be Duplicated. - Displays Nicely. NOTE That the Top Leather Strap Carry Handle is Quite Worn with Some Damage.
