Standing approximately 12.5 inches high, this exceptionally detailed piece features a dramatic composition of three sculpted lions forming the tripod base, intertwined serpents winding around the central stem, richly modeled foliage, and additional animal-form decoration surrounding the candle cup. The substantial cast-metal construction has a deep bronze/brass-toned finish with naturally developed patina that beautifully emphasizes the sculptural detail. Viewed from every angle, the candlestick reveals another element of its imaginative animal and botanical design. The underside retains the Arthur Court Designs maker’s mark, confirming its attribution. A wonderful example of Arthur Court’s more elaborate figural work, combining Hollywood Regency, Neo-Baroque and animalier influences.
