Antique 19th century English Staffordshire pink luster wall plaque or tray. Depicts the Great Eastern Steam Ship. Measures 9 1/4" x 8". Good condition - light wear with age. Made with two holes at the top for hanging on the wall.
The SS Great Eastern was an iron-hulled steamship designed by the legendary British civil engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Launched in 1858, she was by far the largest ship in the world at the time, a record she held for four decades. Brunel designed the massive vessel to carry 4,000 passengers from England to Australia without needing to refuel.
