A grand pair of leather and mahogany armchairs or throne chairs crafted in the French Louis XIII, or Baroque taste by Theodore Alexander, Hickory, North Carolina. The grand chairs feature elegant mahogany frames with tall backs and thick paneled leather upholstery. The wood frames are crafted with carved open arms with tightly scrolled volute endings, leading downwards into boldly turned legs resting on bun feet and joined by an elegantly shaped X-stretcher. The wood frames are intentionally distressed to mimic age and finished with a rich patina, accenting the cognac-toned leather upholstery. The upholstery is accented by sets of four button tufts on the seat and back, finished with hand-tooled leather floral rosettes. The wide and generously padded seats and backs are lined with a subtle patinated brass nailhead trim. The chairs are sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. The chairs are made in the manner and style of the "Ginori" chair by Hendrix-Allardyce, Los Angeles, CA. The finish has a desirable intentionally aged patina to resemble an 17th century piece. Crafted from premium leather and mahogany in a stately French Baroque style, the chairs are suitable for a variety of spaces. Theodore Alexander maker's plaque is visible on one chair with an original order tag on the underside. Sold as a pair. From an estate in Marin County, CA.
