This substantial figure started its life as an elite, custom-mounted designer lamp. It features two factory-cast wire/anchoring holes on the base and retains its original mid-century "Japan" foil export sticker alongside an industrial adhesive ring where it was once married to a custom lacquered or carved wood pedestal.
This exact style of large-scale Japanese porcelain import was famously favored, sourced, and custom-mounted by iconic Hollywood Regency decorator William "Billy" Haines, as well as luxury lighting houses like the Marbro Lamp Company, for their affluent clientele in the 1950s and 1960s.
