A striking 19th-century French cartel wall clock featuring an elegant shaped ebonized wood case with hand-inlaid mother-of-pearl decoration surrounding the original enamel dial.
The dial is signed Daniel Mignot, Orléans, while the movement bears the stamp:
"Anc. Monfranjus – Raison & Thomas Successeurs"
indicating a quality French movement produced by the Raison & Thomas workshop. The Daniel Mignot signature reflects the retailer or clockmaker in Orléans rather than the movement manufacturer.
The clock retains its beautifully aged original dial, ornate pierced hands, brass bezel, and decorative inlaid façade. The mother-of-pearl catches the light beautifully and gives the piece exceptional visual presence.
This clock is being offered as a decorative antique and restoration project.
Condition:
Movement is not currently running and has not been serviced.
Wear consistent with approximately 170 years of age.
Losses and paint wear to the ebonized case.
Visible damage and repairs to the lower edge of the case (see photographs).
Dial exhibits enamel losses.
Antique condition overall with an attractive patina.
Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. I am happy to provide additional photographs of any area or the movement upon request
